On 1 December 2025, Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with EDOTCO Bangladesh to expand the use of clean energy, improve digital access, and strengthen disaster preparedness across communities in Bangladesh. EDOTCO Bangladesh, a subsidiary of Malaysia-based EDOTCO Group, which is the sixth-largest telecom tower infrastructure company in the world, will provide solar-powered electricity from its tower infrastructure to key BDRCS health facilities – including Maternal and Child Health (MCH) centers.
Under this agreement, solar energy support will ensure uninterrupted power supply for lighting, essential medical equipment, and vaccine storage at BDRCS facilities. This will help mothers, children, and underserved populations receive timely, reliable, and lifesaving care even in areas where stable electricity is not always available.

The MoU signing ceremony was attended by Major General Prof. Dr. Md. Azizul Islam (Retd.), Chairman of BDRCS. The formal agreement was signed by Mr. Sunil Issac, Country Managing Director of EDOTCO Bangladesh, and Dr. Kabir M. Ashraf Alam ndc, Secretary General of BDRCS. Senior representatives from both organizations were also present, including Dr. Shahana Zafar, Director of Health and Fundraising; A. H. M. Mainul Islam, Director of Finance; and Joynal Abedin, Director of Disaster Response from BDRCS. From EDOTCO Bangladesh, Al Batuni Mohammad Sayed Ahmed, Head of Transformation; and Md. Monowar Sikder, Head of Operation, attended the ceremony.
The partnership was facilitated by the BDRCS Fundraising Department, which works to build financial sustainability for the national society by connecting corporate donors with humanitarian initiatives through CSR collaborations.
