The Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) is one of the country’s most trusted providers of voluntary, non-remunerated blood donation services. For decades, we have been committed to ensuring that safe blood is available when and where it is needed most.
Safe blood saves lives every day. From emergency surgeries to childbirth complications, from accident victims to patients living with blood disorders, the need for blood is constant. In Bangladesh, thousands of patients depend on the generosity of blood donors to survive and recover.
The Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) is one of the country’s most trusted providers of voluntary, non-remunerated blood donation services. For decades, we have been committed to ensuring that safe blood is available when and where it is needed most.
Blood cannot be manufactured. The only source is people who are willing to give. Every pint of donated blood can save up to three lives by being separated into components such as red blood cells, plasma, and platelets.
In emergencies such as road accidents, major surgeries, and natural disasters, demand for blood can rise sharply. Patients with chronic illnesses like thalassemia also require regular transfusions. Without a strong base of voluntary donors, many lives would be at risk.
BDRCS operates modern blood banks and collection centers equipped to meet national and international safety standards. We screen all donations thoroughly for transfusion-transmissible infections to ensure the highest level of safety. Our services include:
One of our key priorities is raising awareness about voluntary blood donation. We run year-round campaigns in schools, universities, workplaces, and communities to inspire people to donate regularly rather than only during emergencies.
Our volunteer network organizes mobile blood donation camps, making it easier for people to donate without having to visit a blood bank. We also maintain a database of regular donors to ensure that blood can be mobilized quickly in urgent situations.
The safety of both donors and recipients is our highest concern. All donors are screened for health conditions before donation, and every unit of blood is tested in accordance with World Health Organization (WHO) standards. Our trained staff follow strict hygiene and infection control protocols at every stage of collection, processing, and storage.
You can save lives by becoming a regular blood donor or by organizing a blood donation camp in your community, school, or workplace. Your donation can help:
