City Bank Representative Visits Feni to Witness Impact of BDT 5 Million Flood Rehabilitation Support

Feni, Bangladesh

A representative from City Bank visited Suvapur Union of Chagalnaiya Upazila in Feni District on 2 June 2025 to observe firsthand the impact of their generous donation towards flood rehabilitation efforts following the Southeastern Floods of 2024.

City Bank had contributed BDT 5,000,000 to the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) to support 50 severely affected families in rebuilding their lives. Under the initiative, each family received a total assistance package of BDT 125,000; covering shelter repairs (BDT 65,000), latrine construction (BDT 25,000), and livelihood support (BDT 35,000). The remaining BDT 1,250,000 was contributed by BDRCS to complete the support package per family. All operational and logistical costs of the program, including beneficiary selection, monitoring, and mobile cash disbursement, were fully covered by BDRCS, ensuring that 100% of City Bank’s donation directly benefited the families.

During the visit, Mr. Reza Fauzul Kabir, Senior Manager, External Affairs, Brand & Communications and Corporate Affairs Division, interacted with beneficiaries, inspected newly repaired homes and constructed latrines, and heard stories of resilience and recovery directly from the affected families. The visit highlighted how financial contributions—when properly channeled—can bring meaningful change to the lives of people recovering from disasters.

Speaking at the field site, Mr. Kabir expressed deep satisfaction seeing the transparency and efficiency of the implementation. “We are proud to partner with BDRCS in this humanitarian initiative. Witnessing the direct impact of our contribution gives us immense encouragement to continue supporting disaster-affected communities.” The visit was facilitated by Md. Towfiqul Islam Sikder, Officer – Communication & Digital Fundraising at BDRCS. Mohammad Mehedi Hasan (Shishir), Manager – Livelihood & Cash at the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), also joined the field mission.

Thanks to this partnership, 50 families in Feni now have safer shelters, access to proper sanitation, and the means to restore their livelihoods. The initiative has not only addressed their immediate recovery needs but also restored hope and dignity among the survivors.

This visit marks a strong example of impactful corporate social responsibility (CSR) in action and reinforces the role of public-private partnerships in strengthening community resilience to disasters.
